Live View in HD: Connect to your Night Owl recorder remotely to view live feeds from all connected cameras in high definition. Watch multiple camera streams simultaneously in various grid views (1, 4, 8, 16+).

On-Demand Playback & Search: Access recorded footage stored on your DVR/NVR hard drive. Use the timeline to scroll through previous days and hours to review events. Search for recordings by date, time, or specific camera.

Two-Way Audio & Siren (on supported models): If your cameras have built-in microphones and speakers, use the app to listen in and speak through the camera. Trigger a built-in siren remotely to deter intruders.

Digital Zoom & PTZ Control: Pinch-to-zoom on live or recorded video for a closer look. For compatible Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras, use on-screen controls to remotely pan, tilt, and zoom the camera lens.

Smart Alerts and System Management

Motion & Sound Alert Notifications: Receive instant push notifications to your phone when your cameras detect motion or sound (based on your settings). Tap the alert to jump directly into live view.

Customizable Activity Zones: Define specific areas within a camera's field of view to monitor for motion. This reduces false alerts from unimportant areas like moving trees or passing cars.

Snapshot & Video Clip Capture: Manually take snapshots or record short video clips directly from the live feed or playback, saving them to your phone's gallery for easy sharing or evidence.

System Health & Status: Check the status of your recorder, view available hard drive space, and see which cameras are online/offline for easy system maintenance.

Multi-User Access & Sharing: Securely share camera access with family members or trusted individuals by sending them an invitation from within the app, each with their own login.

How to Use Night Owl HD

Connecting to your security system remotely involves a straightforward setup process.

Click the button “Check All Versions” below to download and install Night Owl HD on your device or browser.

Connect Your Recorder to the Internet: Ensure your Night Owl DVR/NVR is connected to your home router via an Ethernet cable and is powered on.

Add Your Device in the App: Open the app and follow the setup wizard. You will typically need to scan the QR code on your recorder or manually enter its unique Device ID and set a secure password.

Configure Alerts and Settings: Once connected, go into the settings for each camera to set up motion detection sensitivity, create activity zones, and enable push notifications.

Start Monitoring: Tap on a camera to view it live. Use the playback tab to review past recordings. Respond to alert notifications as they come in by tapping to view the live feed instantly.
