The timeless struggle for supremacy unfolds in a single, epic battle in Age of War, a classic and addictive strategy game that defined a genre for a generation of players. This deceptively simple game pits you against a relentless AI opponent on a 2D battlefield, where you must manage resources, evolve your civilization through six distinct ages, and deploy the right mix of units to overwhelm the enemy base. Starting in the primitive Stone Age with club-wielding cavemen and progressing all the way to a futuristic age of lasers and mechs, it's a test of strategic timing, unit counters, and rapid decision-making that's easy to learn but challenging to master.
Evolve Your Army Through the Ages
The core progression system is what makes each playthrough a unique strategic journey.
- Six Evolutionary Ages: Begin in the Stone Age and advance through the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Modern Age, and into the Future Age. Each age unlocks more powerful and advanced military units.
- Diverse Unit Types & Counters: Deploy a variety of units with specific roles: Infantry (basic fighters), Archers/Ranged (support), Cavalry (fast attackers), Siege (base destroyers), and Flying units (in later ages). Understanding which unit counters another is key to victory.
- Base Upgrades & Defenses: Spend gold to upgrade your own base's defenses, including stronger walls and defensive turrets that automatically attack incoming enemies.
- The Ultimate Super Unit - The King: In the final Future Age, you can deploy the almighty "King," a nearly unstoppable super-unit that can single-handedly turn the tide of battle and crush the enemy fortress.
Strategic Resource Management and Timing
Success depends on more than just sending units; it's about economy and tactical foresight.
- Dual Resource System (Gold & Mana): Gold is earned steadily over time and by killing enemy units. It's used to train basic military units. Mana regenerates slowly and is required to advance to the next age and to summon powerful special units and abilities.
- Critical Decision: Upgrade or Attack? You must constantly choose between spending gold on an immediate military push or saving it to buy the expensive age advancement. Advancing too late can leave you overwhelmed by superior enemy units.
- Special Powers & Spells: Use accumulated mana to activate powerful global spells, such as healing your entire army, freezing all enemy units, or calling down a meteor strike on the battlefield.
- Simple, Responsive Controls: The entire game is controlled through a simple button-based interface at the bottom of the screen. Tap buttons to train units, advance ages, or use spells, allowing for fast-paced strategic decisions.
- Addictive "One More Try" Gameplay: Matches are relatively short, and losing often feels like a learning experience. The clear progression path and the "if I had just upgraded sooner..." feeling make it incredibly compelling to jump right back in.
How to Play Age of War
Mastering the ages requires understanding a few fundamental strategies from the very first minute.

- Early Game (Stone Age): Focus on building a steady stream of basic Infantry ("Clubmen") to apply pressure and earn gold from kills. Start saving for the Age Advancement as soon as you have a small defensive force.
- Mid-Game (Middle Ages - Renaissance): Once you advance, immediately start producing the new, stronger units (like Knights or Musketeers). Use your mana for healing spells to sustain your push or to freeze a large enemy wave.
- Counter the Enemy: Observe what units the AI is sending. If they send many Archers, counter with fast Cavalry. If they send Siege units, prioritize your own units to take them out quickly before they damage your base.
- Late Game & The King: Race to reach the Future Age. The first player to deploy the King often wins. Save your mana, summon the King, and support him with a full army to bulldoze through the enemy's final defenses.
